Thank you! It was the quote that kept plaguing my mind as I was trying to get it all out so I only thought it fitting to add it in. ^_^

I am 75 so my mother cannot come running to help except in my heart and mind. It is so hard to explain to people how difficult this life truly is when they say I look just fine… Best wishes to you.

Comment on The Impact of Learning Pain Tolerance by Shannon miller https://anxietyzebra.com/the-impact-of-learning-pain-tolerance/#comment-13 Fri, 12 Jul 2019 02:03:55 +0000 http://anxietyzebra.com/?p=745#comment-13 Thank you for this post! 10 yrs ago I rolled my ankle, worked another 4 hrs doing road construction, went home and slept, and went to the Dr the next day. I lost my job because of this injury that only took Tylenol and ibuprofen.. and 6 months later 2 surgeries and 2 yrs in a cast because all my ligements were torn and I powered through it. I worked through a dislocated shoulder from dusting, and I go to work with migraines all the time. I don’t remember a week where I don’t have atleast a major headache. All my life I’ve been told it’s normal to have pain, I didn’t know until recently, normal ppl don’t have this pain. You post makes me know I’m not alone or odd. Thank you so much

Or to abandon the thought that doctors are good to see. I get that the journey can be frustrating, and why it's easy to want a mystical solution. My little circle calls it a UPG, unverifiable personal gnosis. It's a belief that can't easily be tested. It also means its hard to prove that you're wrong. It makes it really easy to come up with a special reason as an answer to your problem that nobody can challenge with the normal diagnostics. Unfortunately, nobody ever wants to acknowledge the risk for disassociation or disease progression. It's all about the immediate feel good. It's heartbreaking really. You are seen, you are appreciated, and you're welcome here.]]> In reply to Elizabeth Stephens-Gibson.

You’re quite welcome!

I’ve never had someone seriously tell me I was possessed though. I have had to help a few people who have been told such things. I’ll let you guess what percentage of them actually involved the person being possessed. 😉

I’ve got a whole host of mental and physical illnesses, including MS and Bipolar 1. Not even close to an exhaustive list. But I, too, have been told that I’m doing it to myself, need to get rid of a demon (by a pagan, no less), should turn my life over to christ, etc, etc, etc. It was heartening to hear another practitioner of mystical woodgie advocate for doctors. Thankyou.
