We’ve all got a story to tell.
I started this website because I wanted a place to tell mine and hopefully spread awareness and understanding. I wanted to make a positive impact where there seemed to be a lot of hopelessness.
Adding to that goal, I wanted to offer a chance for others to share their stories to encourage others. Got something you wish you would have heard years earlier? A complicated problem that seems to be constantly misunderstood? A rare condition that you want to help explain what it’s like? Tips for dealing with awkward situations particular to your health condition? People just may WANT to hear your story! You don’t have to use your legal name, you can choose to write under an author name of your choosing (within reason).
Read over the rules below and then fill out the simple contact form if you’re interested!
Rules
Contributor posts will be submitted, edited, and/or suggestions made before being published by yours truly (still under your author name of course). You’ll be given a chance to read over edits and/or suggestions before being officially published.
I reserve the right to remove any post and/or contributor. Without warning if I feel it is validated.
Content will not include names unless they are the name of the author or it is linked to a published media that is being shared for educational purposes such as an interview done on YouTube that has the physician name in the description. If you feel an exception needs to be made, make note of why in the post for me to see while editing.
Image use is encouraged, but unless the image is yours or cleared under “free for use” licencing, please add the source under the comment section for the Media File.
Content does not have to always be positive as we often face a lot of hurdles. That being said, the goal is to spread awareness and understanding…not be a place to merely vent how terrible things can be. There is expectation that a post will have some level of encouragement or tips for dealing with hardships.
Please link to relevant studies if applicable. If you’re giving anything that remotely looks like medical suggestions or tips, I expect extended reading options from reputable sources.
There’s no expectation of deadline or amount of work produced. If I don’t hold myself to those…I’m not going to put them on anyone else. Write when you feel like it. If I don’t see anything from you in a while, I may contact you and ask if you’re still up for being a contributor.
Visceral images can be useful in an educational sense, but please make them appear as a link and not as an image that will shock the unsuspecting reader. Remember, education and not shock value.
Content will not shame other races, religion, gender, sexual orientation, ect. If this happens, please keep in mind the second rule listed.
Be patient after submitting. I’m passionate about keeping up with the site, but as you should know from reading it…life isn’t always smooth for a zebra.
